<p>Visit the tallest Spotted Gum (Big Spotty).</p><p>The giant tree has great significance for local forest campaigners and residents, currently fighting for it's permanent protection with a new National Park.</p><p>The forest is the habitat of many threatened animal species; they include Barking Owl, Powerful Owl, Sooty Owl, Greater Glider, Sugar Glider and the Yellow Bellied Glider. The extensive Spotted Gum forest is home to other fauna such as:- Eastern Grey Kangaroo and Swamp Wallaby. There is bird life such as Wedge-Tailed Eagle, White Bellied Sea Eagle, King Parrot and varieties of finches.</p><p></p><p>The height of this tree is 71 metres. Making this tree the largest Spotted Gum in the world.</p>

The Big Spotty Tree &amp; Surrounding Forest</h3><p>As we wander along the forest track, you’ll be surrounded by towering eucalypts and lush understory before arriving at Big Spotty itself — a striking giant that has stood here for generations. Your guide will share stories about the tree’s age, its unique markings, and the role trees like this play in the wider forest ecosystem.</p><h3>2. Wildlife Encounters</h3><p>Even on a short walk, the forest is alive with activity. <p>We’ll take you on a fun day out bushwalking</p><p>This day tour is for people who want to have a guided nature walk or hiking experience in the pristine forests of the New South Wales South Coast. Paul will take you places you don’t normally go and show you rare plants and animals that are unique to the area.<br>Day walk may include viewing a 58 metre tall spotted gum in one of four National Parks and kangaroo watching at several locations possibly even on the beach.<br>Don’t to forget to choose your favourite jam when you book – that’s to go on the scones made by your tour guide, along with the cream (can’t forget the cream!).</p>

This forest is a critical habitat for a rich variety of native species.
